TaylorMade Introduces r7 CGB MAX Limited Driver
The TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company has introduced the r7 CGB MAX Limited, an advanced new driver engineered to flawlessly deliver the next level of driver adjustability by incorporating, into one club, TaylorMade® Movable Weight Technology™ (MWT™) and TaylorMade SelectFit Technology. With nine changeable weights and three changeable shafts included, the r7 CGB MAX Limited offers an astounding range of launch conditions.
TaylorMade has been the leader in golf club adjustability since 2004 when the company launched the revolutionary r7 quad driver, the first golf club to incorporate Movable Weight Technology. Since then TaylorMade has developed a variety of clubs with MWT including drivers, fairway woods, Rescue® hybrids and putters.
“Because different shafts promote different launch conditions, TaylorMade SelectFit Technology gives golfers the power to customize the driver and optimize the character of their shots by changing shafts,†said Sean Toulon, TaylorMade’s Executive Vice President, Innovation and Product Creation. “When you combine that with the shot-changing influence of TaylorMade’s Movable Weight Technology, you’ll find that the r7 CGB MAX Limited gives you more control over the shape and trajectory of your shots than any other driver.â€
The r7 CGB MAX Limited is a “Tour Van in a Box†that allows golfers to enjoy a customization experience similar to that offered to TaylorMade’s Tour Staff professionals, which has helped make TaylorMade the #1 Driver on Tour since 2001. The r7 CGB MAX Limited kit comes in a beautifully designed box and includes a newly-developed titanium clubhead with three movable weight ports; three shafts, with distinctly different launch properties; two shaft-securing bolts; one 40 inch-pound torque wrench; nine movable weights and one headcover.
The r7 CGB MAX Limited also features TaylorMade’s Movable Weight Technology (MWT), with three weight ports in the clubhead and a selection of nine weights – two 1-gram, a 4-gram, a 6-gram, an 8-gram, a 10-gram, a 12-gram, a 14-gram and a 16-gram – to provide a wide range of center of gravity (CG) locations to promote a variety of different shot shapes. TaylorMade testing indicates that the r7 CGB MAX Limited’s Movable Weight Technology makes possible more than 6 millimeters of CG movement between the heel and toe, and it promotes up to 33 yards of trajectory change from side to side. Additionally, the multitude of launch condition options made possible by the broad array of included weights, combined with the choice of three shafts, makes it easier than ever for golfers to dial in longer and more accurate tee shots. The nine included weights allow for 357 CG locations. When you multiply that by three shafts, the result is an astonishing 1,071 possible sets of launch conditions.

Anyone that knows me and my game is more than aware that I have an problem with fairway woods. Yes the old 3 wood, 5 wood and 7 wood hardly ever get into my bag let alone used when they do make it in there. So I was a little surprised to find myself in the fairway wood section of the club shop earlier today with a 3 wood in my hand. This however was no normal 3 wood, Callaway have done it again changed a straight forward club and turned it square! The Callaway FT-i Squareway Fairway Wood looks different and offers something a little extra.
The Callaway FT-i Squareway Fairway Woods are available in 3,5 and 7 woods which are the following lofts:
So is it any good? Well I took my left handed 28 handicap buddy with me to the driving range so we could put the club (both left and right handed) to the test to see if it lived up to its own advertising. After around 10 balls I started to get into the swing of things and the ability to hit the ball with a fairway wood started to come back into life. I am going to say that I had a regular flex Fujikura shaft which was completely perfect for my club head speed of around 87mph. I was hitting straighter and longer than I could with the rescue club I have been using instead of the woods.
My good friend RT was also impressed, although not completely successful with every swing when striking the ball off the surface when he did it was around 75% of the time and it was clean and with a good distance on it, this was also with the Fujikura regular flex shaft and there was talk of him replacing his Mizuno woods with a nice new set of Callaway FT-i Squareway fairway woods.
I on the other hand was very impressed and once I have played 18 holes with the Callaway FT-i Squareway fairway 3 wood as long as I have no major issues, and by major I mean should the club burst into flames or something like that, I will be purchasing the club to add to my bag. Its a great club, easy to hold and comfortable to swing on top of that it strikes the ball beautifully. For once I have nothing bad to say about a club, think I might have to go get myself checked at the docs!

The Big Bertha 460 Driver left handed is designed with a geometry close to the dimensional limit set by the USGA/R&A for length and width. This enables Callaway Golf engineers to incorporate a 460cc head design with a shallower face, flatter crown and the highest Moment of Inertia ever in a Callaway Golf all-titanium head, resulting in longer and straighter off-center shots. In addition, the Stretched Head Design allows the CG to be positioned deeper within the clubhead to achieve optimum ball flight and maximum forgiveness.
The Callaway Big Bertha 460 driver has a geometrical all-titanium design that sees the head stretched and flattened to touch the dimensional limits set by the R&A and the USGA. This results in a deeper Centre of Gravity location for longer and straighter off-centre shots as well as optimum ball flight and maximum forgiveness. The Callaway Big Bertha 460 has the modified version of VFT Technology in which face thicknesses are designed specifically to maximize performance under the new USGA Characteristic Time test, resulting in a more robust face for increased ball speed on shots hit all over the face.
The Callaway Big Bertha 460cc head volume and shallower face inspire confidence at address. Wider head shape produces the highest Moment of Inertia ever in a Callaway Golf all-titanium head, resulting in increased stability and straighter drives. Centre of Gravity positioned deeper within the club head for higher overall trajectory and helps get the ball airborne easily
The Callaway Big Bertha 460 has a Consistent Alignment Sole, meaning the club head rests on two distinct areas of the sole, eliminating the tendency of the head to rock back and forth and helping ensure that shots start on-line. A Correct Alignment Stripe works in conjunction with the Chevron logo, allowing golfers to consistently square the club face at address to ensure correct alignment.

Golf Clubs – What Do I need To Play A Round Of Golf?
I’ve just started going to the driving range and now want to actually go and play 18 holes. I need to find out what clubs I need besides what I already have ( driver/7 Iron/putter) my callaway bag has 8 pockets – so I want to add a max of 5 more clubs. I am an intermediate golfer, and would like specifically info on what 5 clubs to add and I prefer callaway or ping brands only ( I guess I dont know any better as that is what I have right now) thank your for your time !
If I was a beginner and was limited to just 8 clubs they would be:
1. Driver (or, if you have difficulty hitting a driver, a 3 Wood.)
