The legendary performance of the X Series in a new iron with even more forgiveness.
The goal of our X-Series Irons has always been lofty: Set the performance standard for the industry. We’ve done it again with the X-22 Irons, the best X-Series Irons we’ve ever made. The perimeter weighting of the X-22s has been maximized for a moment of inertia (MOI) that’s 10 percent higher than their predecessors, meaning you get more forgiveness on off-center strikes. The ideal center of gravity position has been preserved, generating optimal ball-flight trajectories. We’ve also incorporated the Modified Tru-Bore design, dampening vibration for enhanced feel. The tour-inspired head shape has a slightly thinner topline and sole with a large sweet spot for improved aesthetics and forgiveness to boost your confidence.
Precision Notch Weighting
Precisely positions more weight to the perimeter of the iron to create a higher moment of inertia (MOI) for greater forgiveness and stability while maintaining the center of gravity position that produces ideal trajectories and feel.
Tour-Inspired Head Shape
Our engineers took elements designed for Tour players, like a thinner top line and narrower sole, and incorporated them into highly forgiving irons with a higher MOI so they can be played by a wide range of golfers.
Modified Tru-Bore
An advanced version of the original Tru-Bore design, the polycarbonate tip plug at the end of the shaft dampens vibration for enhanced feel and performance.
VFT Technology
VFT Technology maximizes ball speed and perimeter weighting for more distance and forgiveness; S2H2 increases discretionary weight by removing it from the hosel and repositioning it in the perimeter of the clubhead; 360-Degree Undercut Channel maximizes perimeter weighting by moving the CG lower and farther back in the clubhead, enlarging the hitting area and stabilizing the clubhead for more forgiveness.

Well these might possibly be an upgrade over the G5 irons, but sadly, they trail the Rapture Irons by a country mile. This may be due to the fact that the “Rapture” Irons sport that irrepressibly hot Titanium face as well as that famous “Ping” forgiveness. As far as an upgrade from the G5 irons, I found the differences to be miniscule. Don’t get me wrong here–they still sport that famous Ping Quality that keeps guys like Angel Cabrerra coming back for more, and they still sport that famous G-Series look ,which is reminiscent of a 21st Century Eye series, but that’s just it. Outside of the funky orange colour (hey are these Pings or Power Bilts?) they sport very little to differentiate them from other irons in the G-Series Family.
Bsically they’re standard issue Ping stuff. 37 3/4″ 5 iron and 35″ lob wedge. Pitching wedge comes in at a slightly strong 46*. I think that little 1/4 inch that they’ve sawed off always gives the illusion of more control. What I do like about these irons though is not the fact that the club heads are definitely the best in the G Series, but the fact that the OEM shafts have a lot to offer. I think outside of the extra toe weighting on the club head-the shaft is the real deal here.
Ping did a fine job here. They have two different versions of the steel shaft. The AWT is a nice lightweight shaft available in Lite, Regular, and Stiff. The regular weighs in at a mere 99 grams, so when you factor that in along w/the best “G” seies head yet, you will definitely pick up a little club head spead, and distance. They also have the more traditionally weighted Z 65 for those who like a beefy stiff shaft. (Hope you’re packing some serious club head speed.) The graphite shafts are the trusty old TFC line, and not bad at all for OEM Graphite. If I didn’t know any better I’d swear they are UST Pro Launches in Pings Clothing. The regular feels really good to average swing speeds like mine. Not too whippy, and not anywhere near board like. The Stiff however, comes in rather strong and stout. You see the regular graphite on this one only weighs 74 grams, but the moment you make the leap to stiff–we’re talking 86 Grams. That is very-VERY-hefty for a graphite iron shaft, and a full twelve grams heavier than the regular. The stiff is just that w/those extra 12 grams, as most graphite shafts usually sport single digit gram changes between flexes.
I’d love to give you the full bore course tour w/these, but I would sound like a real Kvetch, because I just don’t like them as much as the Rapture Irons. They are definitely a slight upgrade from the G 5’s because you can feel the ball throught impact, and they are a tad more balanced, but outside of the shafts, I find them to be little more than a 2007-08 G5 w/an uglier colour scheme. The increased toe weighting on these will definitely help slicers make better contact, but standard issue stainless steel construction offers standard issue feel. Nice–but nothing special.
Overall, if you like Ping Irons and you need to replace an old set of Eye-3’s or ISI’s etc. then you will like this club. It will feel very familiar to you. It is well built, well balanced, and easy to hit. If you are not a Ping fan–there are better clubs out there in this price range. These are good clubs at a slightly hefty price and they perform well for what they are…Cast Stainless Cavity Backs

The Fusion Technology that powers the ERC Fusion Driver is the successful blend of two design elements created and refined by Callaway Golf. First is the forged titanium cup-face design, which wraps around the face of the club and extends into the crown, ribbon and sole areas of the clubhead. This is similar to the face design first used by the Company in its legendary ERC II® Forged Titanium Driver, and encompasses Callaway Golf’s Variable Face Thickness (VFT) Technology. The cup-face construction makes the clubface stronger in key, high-stress areas for greater strength, while VFT® Technology creates a highly efficient transfer of energy from clubhead to golf ball at impact to help achieve the maximum COR allowed by the USGA and R&A. The titanium cup-face used in the ERC Fusion Driver is also precisely tuned to create the powerful sound golfers want to hear at impact.
The second major element of the Fusion Technology used in the ERC Fusion Driver is its super-lightweight composite body. This is the same material Callaway Golf first used in the Big Bertha C4® Driver, which is a high-strength, multi-direction carbon composite similar to those used in other high-strength lightweight applications like aerospace and high-end performance vehicles. Using this lightweight material allows Callaway Golf engineers to move 45 to 50 grams of weight away from the center of the clubhead – where it has little benefit – to the back and perimeter of the driver using three high-density internal weight strips.
Callaway Golf’s unique internal weighting system accounts for approximately 25 percent of the clubhead mass, and is calibrated to actively influence ball flight and help golfers choose the ERC Fusion Driver that best suits their swing:
• The 11- and 12-degree ERC Fusion Drivers have more weight positioned in the heel and have a slightly closed face angle to help higher-handicap players square the clubface at impact and reduce slice-creating sidespin.
• The 8-, 9- and 10-degree ERC Fusion Drivers have internal weighting that is more evenly spread across the perimeter of the clubhead, which works with a square face angle to help golfers produce a straight, repeatable ball flight.
• And the 7.5-, 8.5-, 9.5- and 10.5-degree ERC Fusion Drivers have more weight toward the toe of the clubhead and slightly open face angles to help better players with higher swing speeds to shape their shots as desired, whether that be a controlled draw or a power fade.
ERC Fusion Drivers feature Callaway Golf’s new RCH System 55 graphite shaft in strong, firm, regular and light flexes. This lightweight shaft is 45 inches long, which is long enough to help produce exceptional clubhead speed while still delivering control and balance. For women, the new RCH System 50 graphite shaft is an inch shorter and even lighter.
