Golf clubs are an expensive purchase, even a beginner or child’s set of clubs can be costly and as you progress in the sport you will need to upgrade your clubs as your skills improve. The trouble with golf though is you could be part way through a round of golf, when suddenly the rain comes pouring down. The most ardent golfer won’t let this cut the game short as it could be just a passing shower. Playing in the wet can actually help you develop as a golfer; the ball won’t roll as much in the wet which can force you to be much more accurate with your shots.
When the weather sours though your golf clubs could be exposed to some serious damage if you don’t take proper care of them. Obviously you should store your clubs in a proper golf bag which will protect them when you are out on the course. If rain gets into your golf bag it can first of all form puddles in the bottom of the bag, but also your club grips will retain the water.
Wet clubs can result in a number of different disasters such as your rubber grips rotting, cracking or coming loose and some club shafts, especially irons, can rust causing irreparable damage. To avoid your bag getting wet there are often golf umbrella holders or attachments that can keep your bag and you dry while out on the course.
It’s not just your clubs that need to stay dry. You’ll obviously want to stay dry yourself so it’s advised that you keep a set of waterproofs in your bag’s pocket. This waterproof gear can be easily rolled or folded up and is very lightweight and unrestricting. So when the rain starts that doesn’t need to mean the end of play for golfers but you should take care of yourself and your clubs.
